Do Nonsurgical Facelifts work?

A nonsurgical facelift is a combination of minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures that address aging issues such as sagging skin, volume loss, and fine lines to rejuvenate and refresh your facial appearance. Unlike a traditional or surgical facelift, these techniques usually do not require anesthesia, large incisions, or overnight hospitalization.

Non-invasive treatments are quick with minimal discomfort and have little to no downtime.

Pros of the nonsurgical facelift

1. Quick treatments

2. Minimal downtime

3. No general anesthesia, therefore, minimizing the risks

4. They are temporary hence great for trying out a new look

5. Economical

Cons of a nonsurgical facelift

1. Maintenance treatments are needed, with some, every three months

2. Less dramatic results

3. Costs can add up for the maintenance treatments

4.Components of a nonsurgical facelift

Each nonsurgical facelift is tailor-made to meet the person’s unique needs. It is common to combine a number of these procedures to meet the individual’s aesthetics goals. The components of a nonsurgical facelift include:

Dermal fillers. When it comes to nonsurgical facelifts, dermal fillers lead the pack. These smooth-gel injectables are known for immediate restoration of volume along with the temples, cheeks, lips and under the eyes creating definition and smooth tissue for a wrinkle-free you. Dermal fillers can also eliminate dark shadows in addition to plumping up sunken areas resulting in a youthful vibrancy. Dermal fillers can be made from several products but the most common is hyaluronic acid. The results of dermal fillers can last from four months to 2 years depending on which type was used.

Neuromodulators. The most common neuromodulators include Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport. 7.3 million procedures were performed in 2018 with these treatments according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Neuromodulators work by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles which are often associated with causing expression lines and wrinkles as they move. These treatments are minimally invasive and their results can last for about four months. They are often used to smooth frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet.

Fat injections. This is a semi-invasive procedure that involves using fatty cells that are extracted via liposuction from a donor site on the body. The fat cells are then cleaned, processed, and reinjected into the face to enhance facial volume. The reinjected fatty cells integrate with the existing tissues and this will result in youthful contours that will last for a long time.

Needleless treatments. There are certain components of a nonsurgical facelift that can be combined to create a glowing expression and they do not have to involve needles.

One of them is microdermabrasion and dermabrasion which can resurface the skin by exfoliating and ridding it of dry damaged tissues. This can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation leaving you with skin that looks and feel both fresher and new.

Chemical peels are non-invasive and they help in shrinking large pores, build collagen, smoothening, and tightening the skin thereby improving the overall skin quality.

Ultherapy addresses the deepest layers of the skin using concentrated energy and with time the skin becomes firmer and tauter.

Nonsurgical treatments require maintenance treatment sessions every few months and the more diligent you are with the regime the less you may need over time. You should however note that the aging process will continue, that is why you should work with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon who will custom-make the treatments for your skin’s evolving needs.
